Ror Home a Masters Victory

I am not a huge golf fan but I am a huge Augusta Masters’ fan. Not sure how it happened but the four days of idyllic sun and greenery plus the birdsong (is that fake or real?) after the Winter here makes it feel like spring is really here.

Plus there is some sport going on and the opportunity to bet!!

Last year we got lucky and tipped up Jordan Spieth and he is going for his third ‘Green Jacket’ this year but he seems to have gone slightly off the boil after a fantastic 2015.

Last year all the talk was about whether Rory Mcilroy could add the Masters to his three other majors, this year he is slightly more under the radar with Spieth, Jason Day and a few others vying for the title of best in the world. Mcilroy’s long game is made for Augusta and if the change in grip can improve his putting he could make them all go.

Incidentally Mcilroy changes grips and clubs as often as he does girlfriends which is a great excuse to show a photo of Caroline Wozniacki. I had a previous blog that had a photo of Anna Friel and I am interested to see if the adage of sex sells works. I might also try to find a sexy pic of Adam Scott to see if there is something for the girls.

C Wozniaki

Talking of Adam Scott he has recently changed his caddy and also had to dump his putter and whilst he still holds a good chance these variables put me off him at the price available.

Adam Scott

There is no one better around Augusta than Phil Mickleson and he seems to have had a new lease of life this year. It will be hard to keep him out of the first five and at 22/1 he looks a useful bet.

I am not alone in believing the Japanese Hideki Matsuyama could be a future star and his performances at Augusta including a fifth last year in his first showing as a professional have been impressive and progressive. He has been in good form so far this year and will relish the opportunity to come back to a place where he thrives.

Summary

Augusta Masters 2016 – Rory Mcilroy – 2pts Win at 9/1

Augusta Masters 2016 – Phil Mickleson – 1pt EW at 22/1

Augusta Masters 2016 – Hideki Matsuyama – 1pt EW at 45/1

No Hubba Bubba This Year

What do you know about Golf? I hear you all cry!! Not a lot apart, but I love Augusta and the Masters and I have had a fair bit of success punting there over the years, bet on what you know and love I say.

There is nothing better than watching the sun shine down on the beautifully manicured course and staying up late on the Sunday to watch a close run in on the BBC. Augusta is a course for specialists the same ones come back again and again and you can narrow the field down just by looking at previous course form and who is in current form, this is no event to come in out of form, are you listening Tiger? Woods is currently 40/1 but should be 1000040/1 in his present form.

So three against the field, lets try two youngsters who both had great debuts last year and who are both in sparkling form so far this year Jordan Spieth and Jimmy Walker last year’s second and eight respectively are both value against Mcilroy and are both in good form and should give us a run. Walker in particular is a double winner this year .

A longer priced alternative is JB Holmes who had a huge win in the Houston Open and has a great range from the tee and if enjoying the event/course could run into a place.

Obviously the old guard will be there, Rory (old guard?) at 6/1 should be in the hunt and his partner for the first two days Phil Mickleson will help him raise his game to the required level. Bubba, two times winner in three years is woefully out of form.

Summary

Augusta Masters – Jordan Spieth – 1pt EW at 10/1

Augusta Masters – Jimmy Walker  – 1pt EW at 25/1

Augusta Masters – J B Holmes – 0.5pts EW at 50/1
